Carraig Mor
Carraig Mor sits on a fabulous site overlooking the Strathearn valley. There was a sun room that allowed a minimal view of the valley and an extensive garden. Internally the house felt like it had no heart with the stair off to one end of a long corridor at ground and first floor. Graham and Denise were keen to turn the house into a grand country residence with living / dining / kitchen space that could both enjoy and open out to the garden and capture the views. The design moved the stair to form a grand entrance hall on arrival and extended to form an open plan living space with generous picture windows and top light. Other internal alterations reorganised bedrooms, added a shower room and renovated existing bathrooms. The dining area extension is formed using zinc with a full height gable window framing the view. The kitchen looks over and enjoys the view from this window. The lounge area is clad in grey painted timber with wide bifold doors onto a large patio. ‘A Project that turned our House into a Home We went into a significant extension, change of interior design and use of rooms in our house, a one off event in life! Andy took us from the initial designs, gaining planning approvals to tendering and execution of the scope of work. We found the whole experience a real challenge but with Andy's guidance and support along with a good main contractor the work was completed per schedule with a high level of quality. The services provided by Andy where personal but also very professional, the links with the main contractor were positive, where issues arose the discussions and final agreements were fair to all parties. The extension design is a exactly as we wanted to achieve but with a visual aspect that exceeded our expectations and raises compliments from all that view. A significant amount of work that finally turned a house with a lost view into a family home with views to die for!!!’ G & D Guy |
